Arkansas Connects Moms to Local Health Care

LITTLE ROCK, AR. - Governor Sarah Sanders and the Arkansas Department of Health have teamed up to introduce an important new program. This statewide effort aims to help mothers find healthcare services closer to their homes.

The program, named "Claim Your Care," is designed to provide information for women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Its main goal is to help them easily locate the Arkansas Health Unit nearest to them.

Officials hope to make sure more women know about the health services available and encourage them to get care earlier and more regularly. Arkansas has 92 health units across the state, and 75 of these offer key services like prenatal care (care during pregnancy), mental health support, and follow-up care after a baby is born.

Arkansas Health Secretary Renee Mallory explained, "Services can only help if women know about them. We want every woman who visits an Arkansas Health Unit to feel supported and confident throughout her pregnancy."

The "Claim Your Care" campaign officially began on May 6th during the third annual Month of May Block Party and Women's Health Expo, held in Little Rock.

Governor Sanders, a mother of three, shared her personal understanding of the challenge. "I know that pregnancy can be overwhelming," she said. "That's why we are launching this campaign to help women get the care they deserve, no matter what part of Arkansas they call home. By reaching women early, making things clear, and making healthcare easy and affordable, we will improve health results, strengthen families, and support women and mothers."
