Legendary rock band The Rolling Stones are preparing to release a new album, Foreign Tongues, on July 10. However, fans hoping for a supporting tour in 2026 may be disappointed.
During a recent promotional event in New York City, guitarist Keith Richards addressed questions from the Associated Press regarding future touring plans. Richards appeared hesitant, suggesting that the band is currently focused on the completion of the record rather than scheduling new dates. While he did not rule out the possibility entirely, he indicated that the band might discuss the idea next year, explicitly stating that a tour would not happen this year.
In contrast, frontman Mick Jagger expressed a stronger desire to return to the stage. Jagger stated that he would "absolutely love" to tour in support of the new music and hopes to do so as soon as it becomes feasible.
The band's last major touring effort took place in 2024, which supported their 2023 album Hackney Diamonds. During the New York event, the 82-year-old Jagger also touched upon the physical demands of performing. When asked about his notable agility and movement on stage, Jagger attributed his energy to strict discipline and a commitment to fitness. He acknowledged that while he cannot perform the same way he did at age 21, consistent hard work allows him to maintain the stamina required for their high-energy shows.
As the July release date for Foreign Tongues approaches, the music world remains curious as to whether the Stones will embark on another global trek or if the band is shifting its primary focus toward studio work.
