Def Leppard Teases New Album and Latest Single

Def Leppard is preparing for a new musical chapter, with frontman Joe Elliott revealing that their upcoming album will likely "surprise a lot of people." The band recently introduced this new era with the release of their latest single, Rejoice, which debuted in late January.

The track served as a highlight for the band's residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Elliott noted that the residency provided a unique opportunity to experiment with their setlist and introduce new material. He described Rejoice as an uplifting, mid-tempo song designed for positivity and escapism. The track was written with remarkable speed, as Elliott's lyrics and guitarist Phil Collen's musical backing aligned almost instantly.

Looking ahead to the full-length project, expected in early 2027, Elliott described the record as eclectic and varied. He emphasized that the band is not interested in simply recreating the sound of their previous hits. Instead, the album will explore a wide sonic range, featuring everything from piano-driven songs inspired by Queen and Elton John to the fastest track the band has ever recorded.

The production of the album has been influenced by a modern recording process adopted during the pandemic. By recording remotely from home studios and hotel rooms, the band has found a flexible and exhilarating way to collaborate. This efficiency has resulted in a massive amount of material; Elliott stated that they have written 17 or 18 songs, which may eventually be split into two separate albums.

Ultimately, Def Leppard continues to position themselves as a source of escapism. By focusing on positive messages and high-energy performances, the band aims to provide fans with a joyful experience that transcends the stresses of everyday life.
